How was the universe created without defying the third law of thermodynamics?
No-one’s entirely sure. One possible explanation is that the Big Bang was the moment of creation of the universe, and as the laws of thermodynamics only apply to the universe, they were not violated by its creation. Another explanation is that the net amount of energy (matter is a form of energy) in the universe is zero, because of all the negative energy. This fortunately has nothing to do with holistic nostril-enema therapy; the ‘negative energy’ is gravity. As one has to do work to move two attracted bodies apart (stop snickering), the further apart bodies are, the more ‘gravitational potential energy’ they have. Apparently, all the negative potential energy is enough to account for all the positive energy in the universe.
Professor: does water drain differently in the Southern Hemisphere?
Not in practice. While there is a small influence on water draining caused by the spin of the earth, this is so small as to be greatly outweighed by many other random influences. In an experiment too dull to explain in any detail, Ascher Shapiro isolated a tank of water from all outside disturbances, and found after a while the water began to spin like a very gentle whirlpool.
Professor: is it true that if a pigeon eats rice it will explode?
If by rice, you mean TNT, then yes. However, if by rice you mean rice, then no.
What’s the best way to get from Naples to Napoli by car?

What’s the best unfinished symphony?
Schubert’s 8th was good, but not quite as impressive as Mahler’s 11th, which was finished but not written down, or Mussorgsky’s 107th, which was composed on several lean pieces of bacon, and subsequently eaten. Please ask me a science question next time.
What’s the nutritional value of a placenta?
Ok, let’s go back to classical music.
When N-Dubz released...
I’m afraid that’s all we’ve got time for.
